Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the biomechanics of infant feeding Be able to demonstrate different feeding positions to mothers and support them in positioning their baby for optimal feeding

  • Understand the signs of a shallow latch and be able to identify these when supporting breastfeeding mums

  • Understand the importance of deep latch for effective feeding, and be able to observe and teach parents signs of effective breastfeeding

  • Have an understanding of other causes of nipple pain, and know how to appropriately refer mums for support.

Meet Course Facilitator

Alissa Brown

Alissa is a Midwife, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant & Holistic Sleep Coach. She has been working with breastfeeding families and providing breastfeeding education for over 10 years. She is also a breastfeeding mother of three children. Alissa has worked across hospital and community settings and currently works in private practice providing specialist breastfeeding and sleep support.
